Family Holiday
My main reason for this review is to applaud Victor (Butler) for the lovely decorations he did in our groom for our daughters birthday! The gym on the resort defo needs better AC - I’m fairly sure there wasn’t any, but Javier who works in the gym was very friendly and helpful also. The shows were hit and miss, we thoroughly enjoyed Lion king, princesses and superheroes but some nights were just a party which seemed to be the kids club and not very much inclusion - see below. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday but with a few exceptions: The kids club didn’t seem very English speaking friendly on the occasion my son wanted to play therefore we didn’t use this at all. There were a few days where the kitchen seemed to be short of staff possibly and food wasn’t restocked during breakfast for almost 30mins so we were stood waiting for certain items while the rest went cold and it did lead to very long queues on the egg station those days too. Food was hit and miss mainly due to the cross contamination which was a little off putting, I felt very sympathetic towards anyone with allergies/vegetarian as no care was taken to ensure the same utensils and pans weren’t used. The toilet in our room was broken the whole 2 weeks so we had to fill the toilet bowl with the ice bucket most of the time - we probably could have moved room but it was not enough of an inconvenience for us to moan and pack up our belongings and move. Otherwise we had a lovely holiday, would definitely recommend for families, the water park especially was great for the kids along with the pizzeria attached! The beach was a short distance and carts ferry people back and forth all day which was convenient especially during the hotter hours of the day, we used the photography studio on the beach for our family pictures. This was great value for money and we got some lovely photos! All in all a good trip and I am unsure of the all of the negative reviews, there were only a few minor issues but nothing enough to dampen what was a lovely trip!

Disappointing fourth visit to bahia principe
This was our fourth visit to bahia pricipe complex in the last six years, staying twice at fantasia, this visit to fantasia was due to the Esmeralda being renovated,we were upgraded to fantasia by TUI, at the time of change I requested through tui for a pool side facing room, I also emailed bahia principe twice regarding the room twice, On arrival at the hotel I informed the recepsilon staff regarding the pool facing room, but they stated that there was no pool facing rooms avaliable, after a bit of arguing they offered us access to the Amber adults only complex, we agreed and then left the reception, the next evening we decided to visit Amber for our evening meal.when we arrived we were refused entry, really upset about this. The security guard on duty got really nasty towards us. we then returned to fantasia reception who then stated we should have been given access, the next day they gave us red esmeralda wrist bands and stated they would contact Amber staff, off we went again for some evening entertainment, we got to the buffet restaurant on this occasion but to be told again we were not allowed on the complex.again we went back to fantasia, again the reception staff fobbed us off saying the reception staff on our arrival gave us wrong information.i stated to the manager on duty of our disappointment that we are being told lies, but he didn't seem interested. we eventually give up on the idea of visiting the Amber Complex. On the fantasia complex we are disappointed from our last visit, the bar staff in the lobby bar were very ignorant towards English customers, if women were at the bar they always got served first, unless you were tipping them you got served , the same was happening at the pool bar. The buffet restaurant was a free for all, food was below the standard from our last visit to fantasia.a few of the la carte restaurants were good, keep away from the the fish market, the staff don't understand English-speaking customers Pool areas and gardens are well maintained and to a good standard, Rooms were cleaned daily but they never seem to clean the floors for some reason, our feet were always black. We will be looking at a different hotel chain for our next years holiday. Hopefully the management will take notice of our comments and hopefully employ honest reception staff and retrain there bar staff in hospitality

Nice experience
Lobby bar is very good ! Gilbert is no.1 ! Rooms are ok also. Animation is good for families and kids and the place we'll set for that. Good mix between Mexico and Cuba if you like but with good service.

Kids hotel, no good for adults
We from the UK and travelled 2 weeks.Let’s start by saying I joined the Bahia Principe Fantasia group on FB.Don’t believe all the reviews on there. I tried to write a review and they just deleted me from the group so is bias. My daughter 3yrs liked castles and princesses so we thought this would be magical for her, and she enjoyed her time. But what the kids can’t see is the bad stuff. We had 1-2 good thinks and most bad things. Start with good Entertainment 4 star The shows were good. Enjoyed the princess and Lion king show. Good pool activities. Not much for adults tho. Facilities 4 star Nice pools and waterpark. Perfect for kids. Ok gym. Offered buses to beach if you don’t want to walk. Bedrooms 2 star Very average. Draws are broken. AC makes noises all night long. Bed really hard. Def not 5 star Food + drinks 1 star I don’t know how it’s possible to go for breakfast at the castle and not have simple things like bacon hash brown and beans!! Go to Larimar and it’s crazy (we called it the mad house after first night) and after that never went again and did Al La cartes. Food at was better Al La cartes, but still not 5 star by long shot. The alcoholic drinks so sugary get stomach aches by pool bar and beach. Lobby little better. Worst I had in all inclusive in whole Caribbean we been Mexico Jamaica Cuba and Barbados. Service 0 stars Most times we went for meals with the exception of the Italian which I will compliment Carlos should be in fact the manager of the whole hotel. His presence shone (only place we left a tip) Never got drinks before meals, staff eating whilst on the job. Don’t understand word you say. Even google translate they don’t understand can they not read?? Last final day locals are allowed in hotel big groups. Had managers surrounding them taking photos bringing them the $5 pineapple drinks for free which we pay for. Everyone at the pool must of thought the same as me special treatment for them when we pay thousands to go there!! Maids- we left empty toilet roll on side with toilet door open and come back to see box tissues by the toilet seat. Finished it off for us.

Just average
If this is your first all inclusive experience, you may love this place. If you have other experiences to compare it to, you are probably going to feel it’s just a bit meh. Overall, for the same price, there are better resorts in the DR to choose from. Bahia principe fantasia is ok though, and you can make a nice time of it. We made the best of it and had a great time! Pools: the kids water park is probably best for kids age 4-10. My 2 yr old had some fun on it as well. The large pool was mostly shallow so good for kids as well. Around the resort, a lot of the other pools were closed. The one closest to the beach was closed so that kinda stunk. Beach: this is a nice swimming beach. I don’t think it would be good for snorkeling. It is quite a walk- about 10 min from the resort. And as above, the pool nearest to the beach is closed currently. I wish there were more waiters by the beach area because it was impossible to get a drink. However, there is a beach bar for a short walk. Activities: not much to do at night although we weren’t really out after 9:30 anyway. Restaurants: overall, the food is not great but nobody in our crew of 7 got food poisoning so that’s something. At nearly all places, are order was mixed up or we weren’t given a portion of it. I think this was largely due to language barrier. We are not good Spanish speakers. Buffet- breakfast often was very picked over with very poor selection. What was left was pretty over cooked. The service was hit or miss. Some days, we got cappuccinos. Other days, we could barely get water. Thali- Indian food. Not great. Service was by far the worst as well. Le gourmet- probably the best option and service was nice. They did forget to bring us a portion of our meal. Circus restaurant- decent. Some of our meals were awesome and some were inedible. Service was decent. Tequila Mexican restaurant- it was ok. The appetizers were great. Service was decent. Rodizio restaurant- some meat was a bit over cooked but the salad bar was good. Drinks- often, a lot of the bars were out of key ingredients to make drinks which seemed weird. Also, outside our resort at other places within the Bahia principe complex, we couldn’t get any service. There’s no good coffee complex available to fantasia. I tried to go to one on another Bahia principe resort but was turned away. Resort compound- everything was super clean. The grounds were huge but walkable. The trolley was often packed and you were unable to find a seat on it. Not a lot of bugs anywhere but would bring mosquito replant and wear it on the beach for sand fleas. I normally love seeing cats on resorts but couldn’t find any on this one which made me sad.
