Cabo San Lucas–the name itself invokes visions of natural beauty, Land’s End (the iconic arch), the cobalt Sea of Cortez, water and land activities, sea lions, and, of course, the epic beach or poolside entertainment. It’s truly the complete vacation; however, unless you pick up and move there, you’ll have a limited time to explore, and might need some help to experience it all. That’s why we’ve put together a list of our top 7 things to do in Cabo. Enjoy!
1. The Epic El Arco
Located on the southernmost tip of Baja, this majestic rock formation, known as Land’s End, is the most famous landmark in Cabo, (aside from Cabo Wabo, for all you party people). There are numerous boats that will take you out to this iconic spot–some even offer tequila tastings on the way over.
When you arrive, you can explore a couple of nuptial-named beaches: Lover’s Beach (a Cabo must-see) and then, not surprisingly, Divorce Beach. If you’re an experienced diver, you’ve hit a gold mine. The seabed offers a spectacle like no other–the waterfalls of sand in the underwater canyon. The stunning coral colonies. The large variety of multicolored fish.
Other fun things you can do here are snorkel and swim. During your Cabo vacation, you might even see some sea lions!
2. Marvelous Medano Beach
This sun-soaked, mile-long stretch of sand is bordered on one side by the Sea of Cortez and the other by a string of hoppin’ restaurants and bars–check out Nikki Beach at the ME resort and Mango Deck. While it’s one of the few swimmable (and most popular) beaches in Cabo, use caution because the undertow is still present.
3. See the Sites on Horseback
Yes, you read that right. You can ride horses along the beach and take in the awesome Cabo views. Plus, you’ll probably make a new four-legged friend.
4. Happenin’ Party Spots
You can’t go on a Cabo vacation and not go to Cabo Wabo – it’s basically a rule. But don’t miss out on some of the other must-see party spots in Cabo. For dancing, hit the Passion Club and shake your groove thang. Giggling Martin and Squid Roe are also great locales.. For local acts/bands, check out Cabo Blue, Jungle Bar, Cabo Lounge and Faraway, a bar owned by former surfers.
Don’t worry, you can blame it on the tequila.
5. Serious World-class Golfing
A golfer’s paradise, Cabo has numerous courses crafted by some of the best designers in the world. Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa boasts a course situated just steps away from the championship-caliber Puerto Los Cabos golf course. It’s a unique 18-hole experience consisting of nine holes designed by Jack Nicklaus and nine holes designed by Greg Norman with ocean views that will blow your mind.
A few other nearby courses are Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol, Quivira Golf Club and Dunes Course at Diamante Cabo San Lucas. For you avid golfers, playing around on these paradisiacal greens is definitely one of the top must-do things in Cabo!
6. Food, Glorious Food
Prime your palates because you’re in for serious grub. You could stay here for a whole week and never dine at the same place twice. Some great spots to try are Invita Bistro and La Roca. But the place we’re most excited about is Flora Farm.
It’s an off-the-beaten-beach-path mecca for homemade cuisine from farm fresh ingredients. Everything is fresh. For instance, the bread. Jose the baker arrives at 4 a.m. to make Pain L’ancienne baguette, sourdough and focaccia, to name a few. You can enjoy drinks al fresco on a magical patio that’s not only a traditional bar but also a spot where you can sip on fruit and vegetable-infused cocktails.
Try the Farm’s spin on the traditional margarita and the Farm Julep made with fresh watermelon juice. You can even get to-go food: sandwiches, grain salads, veggies and fruit that are picked fresh daily. While you’re channeling your inner foodie in Cabo, you won’t want to miss Flora Farms.
7. So Many Water Activities
During your Cabo vacation, try your hand at big game fishing. You can hop on a variety of boats to catch everything from a 5-pound Sierra mackerel to marlin, dorado or tuna.
Scuba diving is HUGE here–don’t miss the abundant sea life, amazing rock formations and spectacular coral reefs. What’s more, there are many dive spots you can explore along the coast and not just at El Arco. Fortunately, you can find all levels of diving here, from first-time divers to divers looking for all levels of PADI certifications. Same goes for snorkeling. Though you’ll likely be in more shallow waters, Santa Maria Bay is a great place to take the plunge. An excellent spot for coral gazing is at Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park. It’s 60 miles north of Los Cabos and cradles one of three living reefs in North America.
For surfing, there’s a wide diversity in locations, break direction and level of difficulty. But a few of the top places include Monuments, Zippers and La Bocana at the San Jose Estuary. The list of splashy fun things you can experience when you book a Cabo vacation package goes on (and on) with sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and sunset cruises.
There’s an abundance of activities to enjoy on your Cabo vacation (these are just a few!) You in? Our BhDs are ready and waiting to help you set up a Cabo vacation package that will blow your beach hair back.
